SAMAJ UTTHAN YUWA KENDRA (SUYUK)-Organization Profile3
SUYUK was founded by youths of the then Jamuniya Tole of Gopalpur VDC, Dhaunsha with
determination to develop their village by themselves without waiting for external support.
SUYUK performed small activities in Gopalpur such as mobilizing community to building roads, irrigation cannel and raising voice to demand for basic services such as electricity etc. Later on, it rapidly expanded to other areas. The organization has been successful in implementing program related to women empowerment, ethnic group awareness, child mortality reduction, poverty alleviation, gender equity, health, sanitation and hygiene so on.
Along with various social services SUYUK has also provided employment to various Dalit and Indigenous people. It has formulated strong commitment towards the quality and satisfaction of work and its accountability towards the community. It was initiated as a youth club, which was later formally registered as NGO. This transition from a small club to registered NGO was felt to address greater expectation and trust from community that could not be adequately fulfilled by continuing as a club.
